I've always loved 'hands-off' magic tricks. To me it's more amazing to have the spectator do the magic for themselves.

"But you never touched the cards". "I only thought of the number". Those are the reactions I strive for.

This trick came from my 51st birthday trip to New York City. My late wife and I went with my theatre mentor and his wife for a week of Broadway and tourism. I was really excited to get back to the magic shop I remembered in my youth and to visit a new one that just opened.

It was at the new shop - Fantasma Magic that an icon in the business, David Roth showed me this routine. Roth is a COIN magician and he showed me the coolest card trick I'd seen in a while. The proof was when he handed me the deck to look for my card and I couldn't find it (or have any clue how it was done).

Even my wife liked it.

Note: I haven't done the trick since I did it on this episode of Daytime and I really should put it in the show.
